Formed in 2004 by drummer/composer Eric Garland & Jazz Mafia don Adam Theis, this 17 piece Big Band is one of the most prolific and Eclectic Modern Electro-Acoustic Orchestras in the world. Its first five years were spent percolating at their famed weekly “Jazz Mafia Tuesdays” residency. Each week the many composers in the band would bring in new material for the group to try, or a remixed version of something they’d already played, or they’d simply jam on a new idea to try it out.

Based on a mix of Big Band jazz orchestra instrumentation and futuristic sounds, this group often collaborates with rap artists and vocalists to create custom productions and film scores, as well as performances on festival stages all over North America.

As the house band for Treat Social Club since 2012, the group has created and performed collaborative original pieces for aerial, theatre, dance, comedy, body percussion, and more. Productions and compositions are always unique, and the creative ingenuity behind each of the projects is cutting edge and multi-sensory. From James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Prince & Michael Jackson tributes, to violinists flying through the sky, to a full gospel choir singing while a freestyle MC throws down, the artistic expression that Realistic Orchestra achieves almost seems unreal.
